Pear-shaped Pomelo (Citrus grandis)

DESCRIPTION
Pear-shaped Pomelo (Citrus grandis) is a particular Citrus variety in shape and size, of our collection.

ORIGIN

We still don’t know its origin well.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is highly vigorous, with long somwehat hairy branches.
-Leaves: Big, lanceolate and hairy leaves, dark-green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit, as the name suggest, is a Pear-shaped Pomelo. It can be so big in size (more than 2kg).
-Flavour: It tastes sweet to slightly bitter if not fully mature.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside, according to harvesting time.
Pulp is somewhat light yellow.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from November to February depending on climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring. Flowers are big and extremely fragrant.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: It can be used to make delicious pomelo salads.
Skin can be used to be candied too.
-Ornamental: It’s a strong and vigorous ornamental plant.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
