DESCRIPTION
Kucle (Fortunella margarita x Citrus clementina) is a Citrus hybrid derived from a cross between a Kumquat and a Clementine.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment, it probably comes from southern Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is highly compact-spherical in shape.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, medium-small in size and bright green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a small round clementine in shape and size.
-Flavour: Skin is aromatic, pulp is fleshy and usually seedy. It tastes like an exact mix between a Chinese Mandarin and a Clementine.
-Colour: Bright to deep orange outside according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually light orange.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: Kucle usually starts to produce fruits during Winter.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, however flowers can be discovered in other seasons of the year.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: This fruit can be highly used in the kitchen.
You can make different things with it: from liquors to marmalades, salads or cakes!
Fruit can be eaten just like a kumquat, or candied whole!
-Ornamental: It’s a nice ornamental variety for its fruiting tendency and its compactness.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
