Sydney Australian Hybrid (Citrus australis x Citrus australasica)

DESCRIPTION
Sydney Australian Hybrid (Citrus australis x Citrus australasica) is a particular Citrus hybrid.

ORIGIN

As the name suggest, it comes from Australia, where it’s highly grown.

PLANT

-Tree features: This is one of the most compacted citrus plant in growth. It’s also very thorny, with a dense fooliage too.
-Leaves: Leaves are small, long in shape, bright green in colour. Internodes seem to be short from each other, that’s why of its compactness.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is a little rough, round or slightly pear-shaped lime.
-Flavour: Skin is kinda aromatic, and righ in essential oils. Pulp is fleshy, with a particular consistence.
-Colour: It’s usually green to dark green outside.
Pulp is light yellow to deep yellow.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to produce during Autumn (September-October). Fruits don’t hold well on the trees.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time. Flowers are small, long in shape.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Fruit can be used in the kithen just like a lime, even if it’s not so juicy.
Pulp resemble the ones of a fingerlime in texture.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking ornamental plant for its shape and its bright colour.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
