DESCRIPTION
Mapo Tangelo (Citrus reticulata x Citrus paradisi) is a particular Citrus hybrid, coming from the cross between a Avana Mandarin and a Duncan Grapefruit
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin at the moment.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is particular in shape. Branches tend to fall sometimes.
-Leaves: Lanceolate leaves, bright green in colour, similar to mandarin leaves and grapefruit ones combined.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is usually round in shape.
-Flavour: Flavour is a mix between a mandarin and a Grapefruit. Mapo Tangelo is usually juicy and a little bit seedy.
-Colour: Deep orange to bright orange outside.
Bright orange inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from November to January according to climate conditions.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Its taste is so particular. Fruit can be squeezed to make refreshing juices.
It can also be zested to make aromatic liquors, cakes, and other different fish or meat recipes.
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental plant for its colour and shape.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
