Spatafora Citron (Citrus medica)

DESCRIPTION
Spatafora Citron (Citrus medica) is a high quality Citrus variety.

ORIGIN
It comes from southern Italy, especially Sicily.

PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is highly vigorous, with long and falling branches.
-Leaves: leaves are round to slightly “heart-shaped”, bright green in colour. They create a dense fooliage.

FRUIT
Shape: Oval to oblate shaped. It’s a pear-shaped Citron.
-Taste: It’s amazing. White albedo is very sweet and fleshy. Pulp is juicy and not too acid.
-Colour: bright yellow to deep yellow depending on the harvesting time.

SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from November to February, but it holds well on the tree.
It usually blooms during Spring, occasionally during Summer.

HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can cut it into pieces, add salt, capers, oil, and you just created a delicious Spatafora Citron salad.
Skin can be used to make limoncello too.
-Ornamental: It’s ornamental value is not bad. Plant tends to be green and coloured.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.

This variety needs to be grown like a classic Lemon.
