DESCRIPTION
Dal Muso Tarocco Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a high quality, traditional orange variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its exact origin at the moment, but it probably comes from Southern Italy: Sicily region.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, with long, sometimes thorny and falling branches.
-Leaves: Leaves are medium-big in size, lanceolate to round shaped and bright green in colour!
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a classic orange in shape and size. Sometimes it can have a little longer petiol.
-Flavour: Pulp is fleshy and sweet in taste. Fruit is usually seedless.
Also skin has a good orange aroma.
-Colour: Skin is usually orange in colour. Pulp can be orange to red-pigmented according to climate conditions during Winter.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from January to March depending on flowering.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: Dal Muso Tarocco Sweet Orange can be highly used in the kitchen.
Skin can be zested or candied to make amazing cakes, marmalades and desserts.
Pulp can be used to make salads, or simply healthy orange juices.
-Ornamental: It’s a good ornamental choice.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
