DESCRIPTION
Bicolor Lucca Citron (Citrus medica) is a particular Citron variety of our collection.

ORIGIN

With Tuscanian Origins (probably Florence, or Lucca as the name suggest) it is a high quality variety in our greenhouse.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is so vigorous in shape, medium big in size. Sometimes it can be a little bit thorny.
-Leaves: Leaves are lanceolate, extremely dark-green in colour, purplish when young, and medium-big in size.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is an oval big Citron, sometimes more oblate, depending on the growth.
-Flavour: Skin (albedo) is intense and sweet in flavour. Pulp is somewhat acid but refreshing.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside. Pulp is light yellow inside.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen during Winter time, then it continues during Spring, and sometimes Summer also.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, but flowers can be produced in different periods too.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Bicolor Lucca Citron can be highly used in the kitchen, as one of the best citrons.
You can cut the white skin and use it to make amazing salads.
Skin can be candied too, or zested to make liquors, cakes, or simply giving a good refreshing taste to your recipes.
-Ornamental: It’s a nice looking ornamental plant for its shape and its colour.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
