DESCRIPTION
Mangiagli Citron (Citrus medica) is one of the best citrons, in therms of quality and sweetness.
PLANT
-Tree features: branches grow usually fast, in 2 years they already lignify!
-Leaves: Leaves are round shaped to oblate, dark green in colour.
FRUIT
–Shape: Fruit is usually round-shaped to oblate.
-Taste: It tastes very good. Albedo (white part) is very sweet. It’s not so juicy so you can easily cut it into pieces.
-Colour: deep yellow outside, light yellow inside.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Mangiagli Citron starts to ripen from November to February about.
It usually blooms during Spring.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: You can cut it into pieces, add oil, salt, capers, olives, and that’s it, you just made a high quality citron salad.
It can also be used to make candied, zesting it to make desserts, or simply eat it with some sugar or salt.
-Ornamental: It’s a dark green coloured variety, with big fruits.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -5°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
