DESCRIPTION
Giant Lemon Citron (Citrus limonimedica) is a big variety of our collection.
ORIGIN
We still don’t know its origin, it probably comes from southern Italy.
PLANT
-Tree features: Plant is vigorous in shape, with long branches which tends to lignify quickly.
-Leaves: Leaves are medium-big in size, lanceolate in shape and usually dark-green in colour.
FRUIT
-Shape: Fruit is a Big “Citron” in shape and size, with a lemon aftertaste.
-Flavour: Juice is high in content and it tastes like a lemon. Skin is aromatic, and it resembles the one of a Citron.
-Colour: Light yellow to deep yellow outside, according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually a little bit seedy and light yellow in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from November to Spring according to flowering time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: It’s big skin can be zested or candied!
Giant Lemon Citron is a good choice in the kitchen, according to your needs. You can also use the juice to marinate fish and meat!
-Ornamental: It’s a beautiful ornamental plant because of its big fruit.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
