DESCRIPTION
Ortanique Tangor (Citrus aurantium chrysocarpa) is a particular Citrus variety of our collection.
The name Ortanique comes from “or” of Orange, “Tan” of Tangerine and “Unique” for its very good quality.

ORIGIN

It seems to be discovered in Jamaica, in 1920.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plants are usually medium in vigour, and pretty woody in looking.
-Leaves: Leaves are small to medium in size, light green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Ortanique Tangor has a typical shape flattened at the poles, with a iconic “round” at the base of them. The skin is hard, so the fruit can resist to different diseases.
-Flavour: This variety has a classic clementin + orange flavour, it’s very juicy inside, a little bit seedy too.
-Colour: The fruit is usually so deep orange in color when fully ripened.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It usually starts to ripen during Spring, but the fruit usually stays on the plant until the Autumn, not losing any juice at all!
It usually starts to bloom in Spring time, so we can say this is a “4 season Tangor“.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Fruit can be used just like any other clementine-orange in the kitchen.
-Ornamental: Due to its amazing 4 season tendency, we can say this is a very interesting ornamental variety as well.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of – 6°C but we cannot exclude it to be stronger.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
