DESCRIPTION
Castagnaro Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is a symbol of Italian tradition and culture around the World.

ORIGIN

It comes from Southern Italy, Calabria region, where it’s been highly grown for hundreds of years.

PLANT

-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour, with long and sometimes falling branches.
-Leaves: leaves are amazing in aroma, lanceolate in shape, medium in size and dark-green in colour.

FRUIT

-Shape: Fruit is medium in size, round to slightly oblate in shape. It’s the biggest bergamot of its group.
-Flavour: Skin is extremely intense in aroma, pulp is acid-bitter and aromatic in flavour.
-Colour: Yellow-green to yellow according to climate conditions.

SEASON OF RIPENESS

Season of ripeness: It starts to ripen from Winter to Spring time.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time.

HOW TO USE IT

-In the Kitchen: Castagnaro Bergamot can be highly used in the kitchen and in cosmetic.
Fruits can be used to make amazing marmalades, liquors, desserts.
Skin can be zested to make aromatic cosmetics and parfumes.

-Ornamental: It’s a good ornamental choice.

COLD RESISTENCE

According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -6°C.

This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
