Carrubaro Lemon (Citrus limon) is one of the best high quality lemons of our collection.
It’s considered to be a classic lemon variety.
It originates from southern Italy, Sicily, derived from a mutation of a classic “Femminello Lemon”.
-Tree features: Plant is medium in vigour and size, it grows well balanced on the tree.
-Leaves: Leaves are extremely dark green in colour, lanceolate, medium-small in size.
Young leaves are typically “Purple” in colour.
-Shape: Fruit is a medium-small lemon in size and shape.
-Flavour: The thik skin is so aromatic. Pulp can be seedy, and it’s so juicy too.
-Colour: When it comes out from the flower is purple, then it becomes Bright yellow to deep yellow outside, according to the harvesting time.
Pulp is usually light yellow in colour.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
Season of ripeness: Carrubaro Lemon is a 4 season variety.
This is one of the most “generous lemon” in fruiting and blooming.
It usually starts to bloom during Spring time, then it continues during Summer and Autumn.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: There’s a milion of recipes and ways you can use it!
You can squeeze the refreshing juice to make sauces, marmalades, teas!
Skin can be zested to aromatize fish and meat, to be also candied.
-Ornamental: It’s one of the best Lemons variety for its 4 season tendency and its colour.
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -8°C.
This variety needs to be maintained like a normal Lemon.
