DESCRIPTION
Australian Round Lime 2 (Microcitrus australasica virgata) is a ornamental and cold resistent Citrus coming from Australia.
PLANT
-Tree features: Very compact and spherical shaped plant. Sometimes it’s a little bit thorny.
-Leaves: Small extremely dark-green, round to heart-shaped leaves. Short internodes give the plant a beautiful ornamental impact.
FRUIT
–Shape: Round, a little bit wrinkled fruit.
-Taste: It tastes acid, with a little bit bitter aftertaste. Skin contains a sticky substance.
-Colour: Green to dark-green when completely ripened.
SEASON OF RIPENESS
It starts to ripen from October about, but it seems to be a early variety.
It usually blooms during spring time. However flowers can be seen in other seasons of the year.
HOW TO USE IT
-In the Kitchen: due to its sticky composition it’s not for culinary use.
-Ornamental: It’s a good ornamental choice, because of its dark-green colour, and its tendence to fruiting and flowering.
COLD RESISTENCE
According to our tests, in the Greenhouse, or in a covered area, it can resist to a temperature of -10°C.
This variety needs to be grown like a normal Lemon.
